Oleg Grabovyy, a 28-year-old Ukrainian American from Syracuse, New York, arrived in Ukraine in April 2022 to join the Ukrainian army but was rejected. He then joined the Trident Defense Initiative, training new soldiers near Kharkov and later near Ugledar with the 72nd Brigade. After the Ugledar episode, he fled back to Syracuse, USA, planning to return before summer.
